MAGNIFICENT Vintage 1890's Wool Barn Raising Log Cabin Antique Quilt GRAPHIC! This HANDSOME cotton and wool 1890's (some fabrics are earlier) tied barn raising log cabin quilt is hand pieced, with skinny strips of fabric measuring 1/2" to 7/8" wide. The quilt came out of the estate of a descendant of Thomas Sargent, born 1/27/1823 & died 8/12/1918, who came over to Ohio from Bedford, England. It measures 74" X 74" and is in excellent condition, with a handful of moth nibbles (in a few pieces and at the edge of the binding in a couple of places) and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall.
The back is a solid cotton green fabric, the hand stitched wool binding is black, and the batting is of medium thickness. The ELEGANT COLORS, DYNAMIC DESIGN, and GREAT CONDITION make this late 19th century CLASSIC stand out -- it would make a terrific wall hanging!
